LYCIAN WAY - THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TREK OF MEDITERRANEAN
Enthusiastic Lycia! Discover Lycian way on foot! This trek shows us the land from its original side: the grapes are smiling from the garden, the goats are bleating us afterward. Today the coast: cliffs and coves, this way is wonderfully lonely! Tomorrow? High in the mountains! Passes and pastures, the last snowfields line the path. The diversity that excites. Dreamy villages deep in the mountains, harbors filled with life and joy. The Mediterranean, then almost alpine, antique next to modern.
TOUR ITINERARY
1st day: Flight to Antalya
Arrival and transfer to the hotel (1 night).
2nd day: In the gorge
We drive to the end of the Göynük Canyon. Walk facing the 2,365 m high Tahtali mountain,
first in the riverbed, then in two strong ascend up through pine forests to Göynük Alm.
After a short drive, we reach our mountain hotel in Ovacik (1 night).
3rd day: To Tahtali Pass
From a tiny hamlet at the foot of the Tahtali Dagi we hike to the same, 1,800 m high pass. There is a smell of cedars, wide pastures open in front of us. With the altitude, the landscape is also barren, a little alpine, in the spring there is still snow and the view wanders far to the sea. In our hotel in Adrasan (3 nights), the chef conjures up a classic dish: Stuffed aubergines - Imam bayildi ("The imam who fainted.").
4th day: To Olympos
From the mountains to the coast! The goat path winds ever deeper until we reach the eternal flames, which flare from the crevices fed with natural gas. We continue to Olympos, a secluded pirate nest with the remains of an ancient city and a beautiful sandy beach for a well-deserved swimming break.
5th day: Adrasan Bay
The path climbs steeply to the upper Olympos. Here we meet the saddle of the Musa mountain. Pine and strawberry trees, that's the smell of the Mediterranean, the view is just as wonderful!
6th day: To the Gelidonia lighthouse
The coastal path, the highlight of the week! Coves and islands lapped by turquoise, rugged rocks flooded by the Azure: The route from Adrasan to the Gelidonya lighthouse is one of the most beautiful sections of the Lycian Way. Then we drive to Ücagiz, where we live in a cozy guesthouse near the harbor (4 nights).
7th day: Relaxing day
Take a break from everyday life? Or an optional excursion to the rock tombs and the church of St. Nicholas in Myra?
8th day: Along the bays
In Kapakli we continue the coastal path to the ruins of the Simena castle. The quaint village with the castle resting above can only be reached on foot or by boat. Afterward, we hike back to Ücagiz.
9th day: To Apollonia
Between History and Nature: This hike is typical of the Lycian Way. On the left, the sea always glitters, the shores of the forest shimmer green. At the top of the hill, we meet Apollonia: Here, too, the ancient world has left its mark.
10th day: Karabelen
Lonely and wild, as originally on the morning after creation, the coast is at Kas. The last stage brings us to the peninsula Ulu Burun, even hikers are very rare here (2 nights in Kas).
11th day: Coastal walk
Light climbs offer beautiful views, sandy and rocky coves invite you to swim and rest. Past Lycian rock tombs, a short, steep rock passage has to be mastered before we return to the sea.
12th - 13th day: Gulet and sea
The anchors up, we go to the sea! On a two-day trip, we drive along the coast first west to Kalkan. On the way to Finike, we pass the ruins of the "Sunken City" of Kekova. The Lycian way very different: Now we explore the way we walked once again by relaxing on the sundeck of our boat.
14th day: Back to Antalya
After we leave the ship in Finike, we drive to Antalya and stroll through the old town (1 night).
15th day: return journey
Transfer to the airport and return flight.
